Hajiya Dada Yar’adua, the mother of Nigeria’s late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua, has passed away at the age of 102.

Daily News 24 learnt that she died on Monday evening at her residence in Katsina after a protracted illness.

Hajiya Dada was a respected figure in Nigeria, known not only for her strong character but also for her influence on her sonsโ€™ political careers.

She was the mother of both Umaru Musa Yaradua, who served as President of Nigeria from 2007 until his death in 2010, and Shehu Musa Yar’adua, a former Vice President.

Her passing marks the end of an era for a family deeply intertwined with Nigeria’s political history.

She is survived by several children, including Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her burial is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon in Katsinaโ€‹ state.
