A 24-year-old housewife, Rukayya Mustapha, has been found dead in her matrimonial home in Kano.
The slain woman was reported to have been slaughtered in her home Saturday night while her husband was away.
Her children, ages three and one, were said to have been beaten ruthlessly by yet to be identified assailants.

Police confirm case, arrest five suspects
The Kano State Police Commissioner, Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko revealed that so far five suspects have been arrested and an investigation is still going on to fish out the killers.
He pointed out that such criminal offences are conducted by those who indulged in drug addiction, that is why they have arrested those who peddled with drugs in order to curtail the reoccurrence of the incident.
Dikko also assured that security agencies will redouble their efforts to check the occurrence of such incidences of crime.
Kano Government condoles family, orders security agencies to unravel killers
Kano State Governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has called on the security agencies to immediately unravel the killers of Rukayya Mustapha, a housewife killed by unknown assailants.
The Governor made the call on Monday while condoling the deceased’s family at Dorayi Quarters in Kumbotso Local Government Area of the State.
Represented by his Deputy Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, the Governor said his administration is committed to protecting the lives and properties of the Kano people.
“It is with deep shock we received the news of the death of Late Rukayya Mustapha…I am assuring you that we would not leave any stone unturned in protecting the lives and properties of the citizens of the State”.
“I hereby on behalf of the Government and people of the State condemn the act and pray to Allah to grant the departed soul Jannatul Firdaus and also gives her family the fortitude to bear the loss Ganduje said”.
