A 29-year-old commercial motorcyclist, Solomon Olanikan, was on Friday docked in an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’  Court in Ondo State for allegedly stealing an unregistered motorcycle.

The police charged Olanikan, whose address was not given, with felony and theft. The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the defendant and one other, at large, committed the offence on Jan. 2, at about 6 am, on the Erinje road in Okitipupa, Okitipupa Magisterial district.

He  said the defendant conspired stole an unregistered QlinkTiger 150 motorcycle with engine number: KKJ00463 and chassis number: QLKPCKBJIKD00126, belonging to the complainant, Mr Olajide Erinjobi

Orogbemi said the offence contravenes the provisions of sections 517 and 390(9), Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Chief Magistrate  Chris Ojuola admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 and two sureties in like sums.

He ordered that the sureties must produce two years’ tax payment made to the Ondo State Government.

Ojuola adjourned the case until Feb. 11 for further hearing.
