Abuja, June 17, 2024 – MultiChoice, Nigeria’s leading satellite television provider, has been compelled to adjust its subscription rates for DStv and GOtv services following a court order.

Daily News 24 reports that the Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal (CCPT) in Abuja mandated the company to revert its recent price hikes, which had led to a substantial drop in its subscriber base.

The price increases, initially justified by rising operational costs and inflation, sparked significant backlash from consumers and regulatory bodies. In response, the CCPT issued an order for MultiChoice to revert to its previous pricing structure, pending a comprehensive hearing on the matter.

Complying with the court’s directive, MultiChoice has now rolled back its subscription fees for DStv and GOtv users. The revised rates, effective June 16, 2024, are as follows:

  • DStv Packages:
  • Premium: Reduced from N37,000 to N29,500
  • Compact+: Reduced from N25,000 to N19,800
  • Compact Bouquet: Reduced from N15,700 to N12,500
  • Confam: Reduced from N9,300 to N7,400
  • GOtv Packages:
  • Super+: Reduced from N15,700 to N12,500
  • Super: Reduced from N9,600 to N7,600
  • Max: Reduced from N6,300 to N5,700
  • Joli: Reduced from N4,500 to N3,950
  • Jinja: Reduced from N3,200 to N2,700

This price adjustment aims to alleviate consumer concerns and restore subscriber confidence in MultiChoice’s services amidst ongoing economic challenges.
