The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO) has recognized and rewarded one of its staff members, Mr. Auwal Dankode, for his honesty and integrity after he found and returned $10,000 while cleaning an aircraft in Kano.
In a statement released on Saturday, NAHCO announced that Dankode, a native of Kano, was hosted at the company’s headquarters at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. The commendation comes after Dankode discovered the money left behind by a passenger in seat No. 25H on an MS 878 Egypt Air flight at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) last Wednesday.

Dankode promptly handed the money over to the airline’s station manager, an act that earned him praise from NAHCO’s management.
The Group Managing Director/CEO of NAHCO, Mr. Indranil Gupta, commended Dankode for his exemplary character, describing him as a true NAHCO ambassador. Gupta highlighted that Dankode’s actions reflect the core values of the company: honesty, integrity, diligence, and hard work. As a result, Dankode was rewarded with a cash prize, an instant promotion, and the title of NAHCO Brand Ambassador.
“We are truly proud of the exemplary character exhibited by Auwal. He is a true NAHCO ambassador and an embodiment of what NAHCO stands for—honesty, integrity, diligence, and hard work,” Gupta said. He encouraged Dankode to continue upholding the values instilled in him by his family and to aspire to become a leader that everyone would be proud of.
The Chief Financial Officer of NAHCO, Mr. Adeoye Emiloju, also praised Dankode’s integrity, noting that it was a reflection of his true character. “The integrity you’ve displayed is not something that anyone can pretend to have. You’ve shown that it is something that is in you,” Emiloju remarked.
Similarly, the Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Didier Steullet, lauded Dankode’s actions, describing him as an example not only for the week but likely for the year. He advised Dankode to remain grounded and not be swayed by the attention he is receiving on social media. “You need to remain grounded and make a difference in the world. Stay on the nice side of the ‘force’ and your life will be good,” Steullet advised.
Group Executive Director, Dr. Sola Obabori, added that Dankode’s actions had made him a poster boy for NAHCO, not only in Nigeria but globally. He commended Dankode for returning the money, especially in a time when the value of the dollar is high, noting that his actions reflected a pure heart.
As a brand ambassador, Dankode will represent NAHCO at major events across the country, promote the company’s brand, and have opportunities to travel and interact with top officials and stakeholders.
