Napoli’s Victor Osimhen suffered a muscle injury in their 4-1 win over Liverpool on Wednesday night, according to the club.
Osimhen passed a late fitness test and was able to play in the game.
In Napoli’s previous game against Monza, the 23-year-old suffered the same injury.
The forward trained separately from the rest of the team on Monday and Tuesday before being cleared to play against the Reds on Wednesday morning.
After suffering a relapse of the injury, the Nigerian was replaced four minutes after the break by Giovanni Simeone.
“Victor Osimhen, who came out in the 41st minute of Napoli-Liverpool, claimed a muscle strain in his right thigh,” the club’s official website states.
The striker, who had an excellent game, missed a penalty before being replaced.
