A nationwide protest demanding an end to the escalating hardships under President Bola Tinubuโs administration has been scheduled for October 1.
The planned demonstrations are titled #FearlessInOctober.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Take-It-Back Movement, a pro-democracy organization, urged citizens to come together in opposition to what it describes as economic oppression and corruption embodied by Tinubuโs policies.

The movement condemned Tinubuโs government as a representation of hardship and corruption, citing the soaring cost of living in Nigeria.
The statement declared: โNigerians, brace yourselves: General Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a symbol of hardship and corruption, has taken the helm. Mark your calendars for October 1 and join the #FearlessInOctober #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria2.0 protest to fight for our nationโs future and end the oppressive rule.โ
This protest follows significant fuel price increases after the removal of petrol subsidies in May 2023, which have more than tripled petrol prices and exacerbated the economic difficulties for citizens who depend on fuel for transportation and electricity.
It is worth noting that between August 1 and August 10, 2024, Nigerians also demonstrated against the rising cost of living in the country.
