Nigerian international Wilfred Ndidi is doing his sixth season in the Premier League, and there is nothing to suggest he has struggled since making the move from Belgian side Genk in 2017.

Even when Leicester City has struggled this season, Ndidi hasn’t and his absence has been clear when missing for Leicester – case in point, the team’s loss to Legia Warsaw in the Europa League recently.

The midfielder’s value on the transfer market has doubled and over the years he has attracted interest from a number of top teams in the Premier League.

A further boost to his reputation, the midfielder, in the EA Sports’ FIFA 22 construction for this season, Ndidi is ranked as the only Nigerian player to feature in the top 100.

He is ranked at 82nd place by the American video games company, Electronic Arts, after turning up in 134th position last year. Well, that is off the pitch, but on the pitch, he surely ranks among the best in the world.

When asked to pick top midfielders playing for teams out of the top four in an earlier interview, former England international Darren Bent didn’t flicker with his words.

He went straight for Ndidi, even with Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips and West Ham United’s Declan Rice among the options and enjoying great runs at club and country.

“Ndidi is that good, he is the best for me.

Rice and Phillips are not bad, but the way Ndidi plays, I think he is better,” Bent noted, and even went on to predict that he can be the best replacement for N’golo Kante at Chelsea, should the man he replaced at Leicester City leave the Blues.

“His partnership with Youri Tielemans is one of the best in the Premier League. He’s that kind of player who can go to Chelsea and replace N’golo Kante,” he added.

Bent is not Ndidi’s only admirer; former Manchester City star Trevor Sinclair also rates him highly, as posed in an interview with Talksport.

He believes the Nigerian is among the crème de la crème in Europe.

“I actually looked at Ndidi, and though there are not many better than him in the Premier League, and probably in Europe. Really good player, very probably underrated, undervalued.

But I wouldn’t have thought he’s undervalued by Brendan Rodgers and his teammates because I’m sure they appreciate everything that he brings to that team.

As league activity takes a break for the international window, Ndidi’s was surely set to be among the first names on the team sheet as Nigeria welcomes the Central African Republic but won’t be available for selection due to injury.

Nigeria has won their opening two matches and are among the favourites to win the third round of matches which should give Nigerian fans a great deal of confidence.

It will further interest Nigerian fans that with this game highly rated, they will have options to place bets on it with 1Xbet among the bookies expected to carry the game, and the same coming with a good offer for new users.
