The Kano State Commandant of the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA), Abubakar Idris Ahmad, and the Managing Director of the Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA), Engr. Faisal Mahmud Kabir, have unanimously agreed that the two agencies of different governments are two sides of the same coin.
This was made known in a press release issued by the KAROTA spokesperson, Nabilusi Abubakar Kofar Nai’sa, when the KAROTA management paid a working relations visit to the State headquarter of the NDLEA as part of its mandate to solicit the support of stakeholders and relevant agencies.
Later, the Commandant of the NDLEA alluded to the fact that the success of the former is the success of the latter.
According to him, most of the suspected vehicles of drug trafficking who escaped the main NDLEA checkpoints at Tamburawa were usually stopped at KAROTA checkpoints, and their attention was repeatedly drawn.
The NDLEA boss advised that the best way to stop drug abuse is to stop processing, carrying, and producing it.
He noted that creating more checkpoints at the various entrances of drug traffickers will greatly help in arresting them before they get to the nooks and crannies of Kano; failure to do this always led to arresting only a small portion of them.
In his earlier remarks, the Managing Director KAROTA, Engr. Faisal Mahmud Kabir, said the visit wasn’t self-serving but a service to humanity.
In a separate development, the MD KAROTA expressed appreciation to the entire state leadership of Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN, for their support and cooperation.
He admitted that the work of KAROTA could be difficult without the cooperation of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria.
In his remarks, the state Commandant of the VGN, Alhaji Yahaya Shehu, adjudged the present government to be the best at paying godly services to its people, and that should be reciprocated.
He requested that KAROTA should do more for VGN by fixing their operational vehicles and upgrading their facilities across the state.
