An Air Force helicopter belonging to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) crashed early Monday morning in Tami village, Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

Eyewitnesses reported that the incident occurred around 5:00 AM, causing significant alarm among local residents.

The helicopter, on a routine operational flight, experienced technical difficulties leading to the crash.

Daily News 24 gathered that the pilot managed to execute emergency protocols effectively, ensuring his survival.

A local villager stated, “We heard a loud noise and rushed to the scene. We were surprised and relieved to see the pilot alive.”

Residents of Tami village quickly gathered at the crash site to offer assistance.

A team of military officers from the Nigerian Air Force arrived swiftly to secure the area and begin an initial investigation.

The crash site was cordoned off to prevent unauthorized access and ensure the villagers’ safety. Preliminary assessments to determine the cause of the crash are ongoing.

The Nigerian Air Force has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident, but an investigation is expected to be launched to ascertain the factors leading to the crash.

Nigerian Air Force Trainer Aircraft Crashes in Kaduna, Pilots Unhurt

Recall that in March, 2024, two pilots escaped unhurt after a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Super Mushshak trainer aircraft crashed in Kaduna. The incident occurred at approximately 2:35 PM, as confirmed by NAF Spokesman Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet.

“The accident, which happened about 3.5 nautical miles from Kaduna Military Airfield, involved two pilots returning from a routine training flight. Both pilots came out of the crash unscathed,” stated Gabkwet.

Following the crash, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, has ordered a preliminary investigation to determine the cause. “The Chief of Air Staff has directed a preliminary investigation to ascertain the immediate cause of the crash,” the statement read.
