  1. Ohanaeze fumes, alleges injustice as Tinubu declares presidential bid

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, says he has informed the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) of his decision to run for the office of President in 2023.

Tinubu revealed this to State House correspondents on Monday after a private meeting with Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

However, the APC leader said he had yet to publicly disclose his ambition as he was still in consultations with various interest groups across the country.

2. FG Debunks Breach Of Nigeria’s Identity Database

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has said the country’s identity database was not breached by hackers.

Some social media users had reportedly said Nigeria’s identity database had been hit by cyber-attack.

But NIMC in a statement on Tuesday said its servers were not breached but are fully optimised at the highest international security levels as the custodian of the most important national database for Nigeria.

3. Kwankwaso rubbishes zoning, begins consultations on 2023 presidential bid

A former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, says he is considering succeeding the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), in the next presidential election in 2023 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

This is just as the Publisher of Ovation International and The Boss magazines, Dele Momodu, on Monday declared his presidential ambition also under the PDP.

A former presidential spokesman, Dr Doyin Okupe, had earlier in 2021 declared his ambition.

4. APC Governors Split Over Convention Date

Governors who are members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are divided over the convention of the party slated for February, this year, Daily Trust learnt on Tuesday.

The top echelon of the party in November last year met with President Muhammadu Buhari, where they agreed that the party’s national convention should be held next month.

Though a specific date was not picked in February, aspirants have sprung up for various offices with many groups staging protests over alleged plot to shift the convention and again extend the timeline of the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led caretaker committee.

5. P&ID firm paid $9,969 into director daughter’s account before agreement signing – Witness

The trial of a former Director, Legal Services of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Grace Taiga, for alleged fraud in the case involving Process and Industrial Development Limited continued on Monday before Justice O. Adeniyi of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja.

The fourth prosecution witness, an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s operative, Aminu Lawal, narrated how Taiga received $9,969 bribe through her daughter’s bank account.

The prosecution had presented a 13-count amended charge which was read to the defendant. She pleaded not guilty to the charges.

6. Why men of God must run when threatened by women – Adeboye

THE General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye has told men of God not to fight women, but run when women threatened to deal with them.

Adeboye, who will soon turn 80 years old in March, at a special online service on Sunday, cited the classical Bibìcal case of Elijah and Jezebel to buttress his point.

7. Troops foil attack, kill five terrorists in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Government has announced that the military authorities said troops foiled an attack and neutralised five terrorists in Kwanan Bataro, Giwa Local Government Area.

The state’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan disclosed this in a statement.

Aruwan said according to operational feedback received, the troops, who were conducting clearance patrols in the Giwa council received credible intelligence of terrorists’ movement towards Fatika Town.

8. Only PDP can rescue Nigeria—Diri

Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State and his Rivers State counterpart, Mr. Nyesom Wike, yesterday, said the chances of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, producing the country’s President in 2023 were very bright.

10. AFCON 2021: Salah Not A Threat To Eagles –Ndah

Super Eagles defender, Olisa Ndah has expressed confidence that the team will handle Mohamed Salah and Egypt in the right way in today’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Group D opening game.

Ndah stated this in an interview with Brila FM, where he also said that the players are working really hard to ensure that they pick the maximum points.

“The game won’t be an easy game because we all know Egypt and their capability. But we have all we need to win because we have been working so hard.
