- Lagos releases White paper on #EndSARS protestThe Lagos State Government has released the White Paper on the #EndSARS Panel of Inquiry report.
According to the government, 11 out of the 32 recommendations made by the panel, have been accepted, six others were accepted but with modifications, while one was rejected.
The document also says 14 of the recommendations fall outside the powers of the state and will consequently be forwarded to the Federal Government for consideration.
- Falz, Mr. Macaroni Reject Sanwo-Olu’s Peace Walk Invite Popular skit Maker and comedian, Debo Adebayo known as Mr. Macaroni, and rapper, Folarin Falana, known as Falz, have declined the invitation of the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for a peace rally as part of the wound healing process in the aftermath of the #EndSARS panel report.,
Sanwo-Olu had invited the duo, who are strong #EndSARS supporters and other youth championing the #EndSARS agitation to a peace rally slated for December.
He stated that the ‘Walk for Peace’ would herald the healing of the land, extending an open invitation to the youths, members of the diplomatic corps, civil society groups, students and the media as well as other stakeholders to join him in the Peace Walk.
3. Compulsory vaccination: Workers demand March deadline, throng centres, FG insists on Dec 1\
The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria has asked the Federal Government to extend till March next year, today’s (Wednesday) deadline for the compulsory vaccination of civil servants.
The General Secretary of the ASCSN, Alade Lawal, who stated this in an interview with The PUNCH on Tuesday, said the extension was necessary to enable all civil servants to take the jab and avoid a stampede at the vaccination centres.
As labour union and the PSC disagreed on the deadline, federal civil servants across the country on Tuesday thronged vaccination centres to get vaccinated.
4. Petrol may sell above N340/litre, marketers plan imports amidst forex crisis
The pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, may go higher than the projected N340/litre in February 2022 when the Federal Government removes its subsidy on the commodity, oil marketers said on Tuesday.
Also, it was gathered that both independent and major oil marketers were perfecting plans to resume PMS imports once the government halts the subsidy regime.
They, however, expressed worry over the fluctuation in foreign exchange rates and how this would impact on petrol price next year.
5. Alleged N4.6billion Money laundering: Court asks Fani-Kayode to pay N200,000 for absenteeism
A Federal High Court in Lagos was on Tuesday told that former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode had complied with its order directing him to pay N200,000 for failing to appear to answer charges bordering on money laundering.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had charged Fani-Kayode alongside former finance minister Nenandi Usman.
Recall that on Oct. 13, Fani-Kayode was absent from court and sent a letter informing the court that he was indisposed.
6. Boat Mishap: 5 feared dead, six rescued in Kano
A boat mishap, on Tuesday evening, in Bagwai Local Government Area of Kano State has left no fewer than five passengers dead while six others were rescued.
