The Federal Government has said there is no good reason for Nigerians to be disappointed over its efforts to return the university lecturers back to class.

Adamu Adamu, the Minister of Education, made the remark on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday.

The Minister insisted that the government had done everything possible to help the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) since the strike began in February.

According to him, the union was expected to change course for the benefit of students and the entire country, stating that no demand could be met completely.

“If Nigerians are disappointed,” he said, “I don’t think they have very good reasons to be disappointed with the government on this.”

“Why should they be let down? Just tell me how, in your opinion, the government is to blame and not the union.

“You can only blame the federal government if it refuses to do what it is supposed to do, which is to make an offer to satisfy their demands.” “There is no demand that any government can meet completely,” he said.

Students at public universities have been on strike for at least seven months, with the union vowing to keep going until all of their demands are met.
