After Twitter announced limits on the number of tweets users can read in a day, many Nigerians began to migrate to Truth Social as an alternative microblogging app.

Although Twitter has reversed the policy, the migration has not slowed.

TS was founded by ex-US President Donald Trump after he was permanently banned from Twitter for inciting rioters who attacked the US Capitol building in January 2021.

TS was not very popular among Nigerians until Twitter announced limits on the number of tweets users could read in a day.

The microblogging app rose to prominence after Twitter users began having difficulty logging into the App due to platform restrictions.

“Reminder: On Truth Social, you can read and post as many truths as you want – all for free,” TS mocked Twitter.

Here are some Nigerians’ reactions to their Truth Social experience.

Former Governor of Kaduna State’s son, Bashir El-Rufair tweeted; “Lmao. Moving from Twitter to TruthSocial is like japa-ing from Nigeria to Haiti.”

“My Mentions on Truth Social are Going Wild Already Even Before I Posted My First Truth,” @MissPearls said. So, it’s either Twitter or the truth.”

According to @MrBlackOG, “Truth Social has crashed due to a high number of Twitter refugees invading the app.”

“Among all the social media platforms to adopt as an alternative to Twitter, you have chosen TRUTH Social, one founded by Donald Trump—an unabashed and documented promoter of far-right extremism,” said @gimbakakanda. You’d be better off in Elon Musk’s prison than in Trump’s penthouse, believe me.”
