The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has strongly condemned the remarks made by the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike, who threatened to incite unrest in states supporting Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, including Bauchi.
The CNG described Wike’s comments on live television as a blatant reminder of his consistently dangerous and unrefined behavior throughout his political career.
The coalition expressed shock and disappointment that someone with such a notorious reputation holds a position in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government.

In a statement issued by CNG National Coordinator, Comrade Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, the group emphasized that Wike’s actions represent not only an affront to the people of Bauchi but also a direct threat to the peace and stability of Northern Nigeria.
“The CNG wants to make it clear that we take such threats very seriously. No one has a monopoly on intimidation or violence. We are fully prepared to stand up to Wike and anyone who thinks they can undermine or destabilize our region,” the statement read.
The CNG further criticized the appointment of individuals with a blatant disregard for the rule of law and civil discourse to high government positions, suggesting that Wike’s behavior has embarrassed the Tinubu administration and tarnished the reputation of responsible governance.
Calling on President Bola Tinubu to address the situation, the CNG asserted that Nigerians deserve leaders committed to unity and stability, rather than those who threaten it.
“The CNG remains resolute in defending Northern Nigeria against any form of aggression or intimidation and is prepared to respond decisively to any threats posed by Wike or his associates,” the statement concluded.
