The Tin-Can Island Port of the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) has confirmed that no lives were lost in the fire incident that occurred at the Port and Cargo Terminal on Thursday.

Mr. Shola Adesanwo, the Public Relations Officer of the Port, confirmed the fire incident on Friday.

A video circulating on the internet showed terminal ‘C’ managed by Port and Cargo Limited at the Tin-Can Island of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) engulfed in flames, resulting in significant damage to cargoes worth millions of Naira.

Emergency responders swiftly appeared at the scene to battle the fire, which took place on July 20th.

While the cause of the fire mishap remains unclear, Mr. Adesanwo stated that the fire originated from a tyre of the gantry crane.

Fortunately, the firefighters managed to extinguish the inferno before it could spread to the crane.
