David Akinremi, the Ogun State Commander of the Amotekun Corps, has died.

According to Naija News, the late Amotekun commander died on Monday night after suffering from an undisclosed illness for some time.

Soji Ganzallo, Commander of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps, also known as So-Safe Corps, confirmed Akinremi’s death and described it as a rude shock.

Ganzallo stated in a statement issued from the office of the Corps’ Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, that the death of CP Akinremi (retd.) is a great loss to Ogun State.

He described Uncle Dave as “a very open, blunt, wonderful, large-hearted, intelligent, strategic, adaptable, adept, and adventurous person.”

“He was a man of integrity, with a passion for security and a love for Ogun State and Nigeria in general.”
