The National Association of Government Secondary School Goron Dutse Old boys has lauded the governor of Kano state, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf for his decision to demolish the shops and buildings built within school premises and its surroundings by the Ganduje administration.

The organization had earlier condemned in totality the way the previous government sold away the premises of public schools to some unpatriotic merchants who are not interested in the development of education in the state.

The National body of the Old boys expressed its support for the demolition of the illegal structures around public schools through the Public Relations Officer 1, Comrade Salisu Ismail Kabuga.

“We have been hoping for a long time that God will bring a government that will save the schools of the children of the poor, which the previous government colluded with businessmen who are not interested in education to destroy them”.

While speaking to the press at the location of the GSS Goron Dutse along FCE Kano road, on Sunday, the National Spokesman of the Association, Comrade Salisu Kabuga said, “When the government of His Excellency Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje started selling the premises to traders, the association has been up and doing to draw the government on dangers associated with selling the schools premises but it blocked its ears”.

GSS Goron Dutse National spokesperson added that, “The previous government deceived the old student’s groups into selling the surrounding areas of the affected schools in order to improve the condition of the schools, and nothing has changed or improved in the development of education in our schools but worsened instead, hoping that, the condition of the schools will be improved under the leadership of the current governor of the state Engr. Kabir Yusuf.

However, Comrade Salisu Kabuga then urged the state government to speed-up its commitment to improve the education sector by bringing Kano schools that were dashed out in the past and providing all the necessary facilities for the conducive learning and teaching to continue to take place.

He also assured the government of the cooperation and support of all the old boys organizations in Kano towards realizing the goals set up by the current government to improve education standards in the state.
