The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended one of its prominent members, Senator Dino Melaye, following accusations of anti-party activities.
A letter released on Friday revealed that the suspension was executed by the ward party executive committee of Ayetoro/Iluagba Ward 1.

The decision came after reviewing the findings of a disciplinary committee set up to investigate Melaye’s actions, which were deemed harmful to the PDPโs interests and unity.
This is not the first time the PDP has suspended members over similar accusations. In August 2024, Peter Babalola, a chieftain from Osun State, was suspended for anti-party activities and failing to attend party meetings for two years.
Similarly, former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom faced suspension from the Benue PDP for alleged anti-party activities, while Senator Gabriel Suswam and others were summoned by the Benue PDP over accusations of gross misconduct.
The resolution of Melayeโs suspension emphasized, โSenator Dino Melayeโs conduct has brought embarrassment and disrepute to the party and his continued membership is no longer tenable.
โTherefore, the Ward party exco hereby suspends Dino Melaye from the Peoples Democratic Party, effective immediately.
โThe suspension is in line with provisions of Article 59 (1) of the PDP constitution, which empowers the ward party excos to take disciplinary actions against erring members.โ
