The Chairman Kebbi State Pensioners Pressure Group, Alhaji Babangida Garba Friday, described rumours making the rounds as figments of imagination that there is a rift between them and the Nigeria Union of pensioners (NUP).

Gwandu said his group and the NUP are partners in progress as both of them are fighting the same course, which is to compel the government through peaceful dialogue to pay gratuities of all the retirees in Kebbi state.

“I was shocked when I heard people saying we are having issues with NUP because we always write to them whenever we want to engage government on our demands and always get their nod before we do anything”, he said.

He added that the pressure group has demanded to appeal to Senator Atiku Bagudu to pay gratuities and upward review the existing pension as being paid to the retirees In the state.

He explained that their action has always been meeting to brainstorm on how best to engage the government. They do such meetings with the approval of the security agencies they formerly t write to intimate them.

As the pressure group, I will not be deterred or succumb to the pressure of mischief makers who want to infiltrate us to discourage us, Garba added.
