Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) during the 2023 general elections has stormed Kano state for the wedding of the children of Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero and Emir of Bichi, Nasiru Ado Bayero.
Daily News 24 reports that on Friday, Emir Aminu’s son, Sanusi, married Emir Nasiru’s daughter Rumana in a ceremony officiated by Professor Sani Zahraddeen, the Chief Imam of Kano.
It was learnt that Kano deputy governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, who stood for the groom, sought the hand of Rumana from her ‘wali,’ Dan Iyan Kano, Ahmad Ado Bayero, and paid N250,000 as dowry.
The marriage ceremony took place at the Kano Emir’s Palace in the ancient city.
Mr Obi, who was accompanied by the LP Vice-Presidential Candidate Datti Ahmed joined other guests in blessing the royal union.

“Today, I made a delightful trip to the ancient City of Kano to honour the invitation of His Royal Highnesses; the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero and the Emir of Bichi, Nasiru Ado Bayero, to witness the Royal wedding or Fathia of the grandson and daughter of the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero.
“The wedding event was a gathering of royalty as it was blessed with the gracious presence of many royal fathers, and highly placed dignitaries, as well as the good people of Kano state.
“I joined them in wishing the couple, Sanusi Aminu Ado Bayero and Rumanah Nasiru Ado Bayero a blissful marriage full of happiness and joy. May Almighty Allah continue to protect and bless them and their families always. – PO,” Peter Obi wrote in a post on his X handle.
According to Daily Trust, the groom graduated from MTI University, Cairo, Egypt, with BSc in Business Management in 2020 and is currently working with the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), while the bride is a graduate of Building Surveying from Portsmouth University, United Kingdom.
The newspaper also reported that the Bichi emir’s eldest son, Abdulkadir Nasir Ado Bayero, will be getting married to the daughter of a late Minister of Agriculture, Abba Sayyad Ruma, on Saturday.
