The police have arrested popular TikTok skit maker Murja Kunya at Tahir Hotel in Kano.
She was arrested while trying to book apartments for her guests who are billed to attend her birthday event, Daily Nigerian Hausa reports.
Recall that in September 2022, an Shariah Court has written a letter to state Police Commissioner to arrest Kunya for allegedly impacting negatively on the morals of the youths.
Other TikTokers in the letter include Mr 442, Safara’u, Dan Maraya, Amude Booth, Kawu Dan Sarki, Ado Gwanja, Ummi Shakira, Samha Inuwa and Babiana.
In November last year, a magistrate court in Kano state sentenced two young people, Mubarak Isa and Nazifi Bala, to 20 lashes and 30 days of hard labour for making TikTok lampoons on the governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje.
The defendants were convicted on two counts of defamation and inciting public disturbance.
M. Gabari also ordered those convicted to pay a fine of 20,000 Naira each, and to make a video apologizing to Governor Ganduje on their social media handles.
