Due to concerns about terrorist threats, Usman Baba, the Inspector-General of Police, has ordered heightened security in and around Abuja.
The IGP delivered the order while hearing general security updates at the Force Management Team meeting at his office.
Muyiwa Adejobi, the force’s public relations officer, announced the order in a statement on Tuesday.

Baba commanded the widespread deployment of extra agents and resources within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and its surroundings.
The police ensured the safety of inhabitants’ lives and property, as well as that of national assets, vulnerable infrastructure, and roadways.
The deployment would be supervised and managed by DIG Bala Zama Senchi, Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Operations).
The Force warned the media and Nigerians about the risks of false alarms and inaccurate information.

The police assured protection of lives and property of residents, national assets, vulnerable facilities, and roads.
Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Operations), DIG Bala Zama Senchi will supervise and manage the deployment.
The Force cautioned Nigerians and the media on the dangers of false alarms and misinformation.
Baba reiterated the determination of the police to enhance the security architecture through intelligence gathering, deployments, and cutting-edge technology.
