Sylvanus Ishaku, 24-year-old was nabbed by the Niger State Police Command for allegedly snatching a Toyota Matrix vehicle at gunpoint with a toy gun in Minna.
According to reports, the suspect, who hailed from Dikko in Gurara Local Government Area left his hometown in December, 2021, to engage in robbery.
It was gathered the suspect lives in an uncomplicated building in Shango area, a suburb of Minna, and usually roamed around searching for an appropriate opportunity to strike.

Last week Tuesday, his plans seem to have started working as Ishaku with the aid of his toy gun at gunpoint and snatched a Toyota Matrix vehicle with Reg No. MNA 492 TC from a woman who resides at Brighter Area of Minna about to drive into her compound.
However, he could not succeed as the long arm of the law caught up with him immediately before he escaped with the car to Abuja, where he had planned to sell it.
Confirming the incident, the state police command through the Public Relations Officer, PRO, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said the suspect was arrested based on credible intelligence received, and he was intercepted by police operatives attached to Paiko Division, Paikoro Local Government.
He explained that during the search, a toy gun was recovered from the suspect, while preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect snatched the vehicle with the use of the toy gun.
“The suspect confessed to the crime and claimed that he left Dikko to Minna since December, 2021 and bought the toy gun at a supermarket in Minna and used it at gunpoint to snatch the car from the woman and zoomed off through Suleja road, but was arrested at Ali Gabadna Junction, Paiko, Paikoro LGA when trying to escape with the vehicle and heading to Abuja for sale,” Abiodun explained.
The state Police PRO further added that the case is presently under investigation.
