The Nigerian Police force has repelled a planned attack along Sabuwa – Mararrabar Yakawada in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina state by terrorists, recovering an AK 47 gun along with four motorcycles.
The terrorists numbering up to 30 and riding on motorcycles wielding AK 47 guns were on their way to commit murder and kidnapping when the police were alerted by concerned citizens.
The incident which took place on Tuesday was revealed to newsmen in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Office (PPRO), SP Gambo Isa.
Isa explained that on receiving the report, the DPO of Sabuwa Division led tactical unit that engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel and overpowered the terrorists.
“The team successfully repelled the terrorists from their heinous mission.
“In the course of scanning the scene, a terrorist was neutralized, one (1) AK 47 rifle and four (4) of their operational motorcycles were recovered. It is feared that many terrorists were neutralized and/or escaped the scene with gun shots wounds” he stated.
However, the PPRO added that in the mean time, investigation is ongoing to unmask those involved to face the wrath of the law accordingly.
