The young Polish students and their teacher, who were arrested in Kano during the EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest, have been released.
Poland’s Foreign Minister, Radoslaw Sikorski, confirmed the release on Wednesday via X.
The Nigerian Government had previously detained seven Polish citizens in Kano on suspicions of their involvement in displaying Russian flags during the protest.

Polish officials criticized the arrest, stating that the individuals were University of Warsaw students and a teacher who were “in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
Sikorski noted that with their release, the group is expected to return to Poland soon.
“I would like to confirm that the young people are already free, back in Kano, on campus, with passports,” he said.
“I think the young people received an accelerated lesson in African studies… I hope they will be back in the country soon.”
