Kano state government has reaffirmed that the ban on hiking up of posters and political rallies on Eid Praying Ground and other Sallah festivities such as the traditional Hawan Daushe at the Emir’s Palace, is still in force.
The governor, in a statement by the commissioner for information, Malam Muhammad Garba, stated that such acts are not only distractions but also in violation of the Electoral Act.

He said Sallah festivities are not political but solely religious and cultural gatherings aimed at showcasing our rich cultural heritage where people of different political leanings and foreign visitors attend.Â
The governor charged security agencies to take appropriate measures against any person breaching the prevailing peace and spoiling the festivities.
