This meeting aims to fortify the bilateral relations between Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea, with key discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in oil, gas, and security sectors.
The statement outlines that “President Tinubu will meet with the Equatorial Guinean President at the Presidential Villa on arrival, where meetings will be held between the two leaders and agreements, particularly on oil and gas and security, signed.”
Tinubu will be accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar and other cabinet members, who will assist in the agreement signing and explore further opportunities to improve relations.
This visit follows President Tinubu’s reception of the Special Envoy from Equatorial Guinea in March 2023, who conveyed a request for a state visit to bolster the Nigeria-Equatorial Guinea Joint Commission.
At that time, Tinubu reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea and highlighted the importance of deepening cooperation in various sectors.
President Tinubu has expressed confidence that the forthcoming discussions will lead to a stronger partnership. “Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea are brotherly nations, and we enjoy very longstanding mutual relations. I am sure when next we meet formally; the relationship between our countries will grow from strength to strength,” he affirmed.
This visit represents a significant step in enhancing the collaborative relationship between the two nations, with both leaders expected to address key issues and set the stage for future cooperation.
