Kano State gubernatorial candidate, under Peoples Redemption Party PRP Salihu Tanko Yakasai, has paid a courtesy visit to Emir of Kano His Royal Highness Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, at his palace to present himself as gubernatorial candidate, and solicit the support of the emir and Kano Emirate.
This was contained in a statement signed by PRP gubernatorial candidate spokesperson Suhaib Auwal Gwagawarwa and made available to newsmen in Kano.
According to the statement, Salihu Tanko Yakasai said due to the respect they have for the Emirate, they decided to visit the emir before embarking on political rallies, ahead of the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
He added that traditional rulers play a vital role towards the development of the society, and no candidate can succeed without the support of traditional institutions, due to their closeness to people and influence.
Salihu Tanko Yakasai, told the emir he is contesting to revive Kano into its glorious days, during late Malam Aminu Kano and Late Abubakar Rimi, adding that “Despite passing away many years ago, but they are always remembered for their legacies and what they did to Kano.”
The candidate revealed 7 areas that he will focus on if he succeeds in becoming the governor of Kano in the upcoming elections.
The areas are; Education, health, economy, environment, agriculture, civil service reform and security.
The candidate explained “We have made special plans to revive the reputation of Kano in terms of business, we are going to modernize our markets and bring investors within and outside Nigeria.”
Alhaji Salihu Tanko Yakasai praised the leadership style of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Bayero, promising for sustainable development of the Kano Emirate, and other Kano first class emirs.
His Highness the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, commented PRP for nominating qualified candidates in different positions, adding that “We know some candidates individually, including gubernatorial candidate, we know their qualities and role they are playing towards development of our society, we are wishing you best.”
PRP gubernatorial candidate Salihu Tanko Yakasai presented the copy of his blueprint to the emir and some title holders at the Emirate.
