In a letter titled โInvestigation and Suspension Regarding Allegations of Homosexualityโ addressed to the Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration, Pastor Akande emphasized the gravity of the matter, noting RCCGโs strict adherence to biblical teachings.
โIn accordance with our missionโs commitment to upholding the teachings of the Bible, we must address these allegations with the utmost seriousness they deserve,โ Akande wrote.
The letter cited Leviticus 18:22 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 as doctrinal grounds for the church’s stance, which strictly prohibits acts of homosexuality. โThe doctrine of the Redeemed Christian Church of God does not allow or tolerate any act of homosexuality,โ the letter reads.
Pending the investigation, both AdeBello and Mayowa, along with any other accused individuals, are temporarily relieved of all their responsibilities within RCCGโs organizational structure. The church has mandated the investigation to be concluded within two weeks, underscoring the need for discretion and respect throughout the process.
The directive further urged those leading the inquiry to proceed with โcare and integrity, and in accordance with our values as a church,โ stressing confidentiality for all parties involved.
