The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has suspended two of its leaders following allegations of homosexuality.
The directive, dated October 28, 2024, and signed by RCCG National Overseer Pastor Sunday Akande, calls for an immediate and thorough investigation of Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello and Deacon Oke Mayowa, both of whom are implicated in the allegations.

In a letter titled “Investigation and Suspension Regarding Allegations of Homosexuality” addressed to the Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration, Pastor Akande emphasized the gravity of the matter, noting RCCG’s strict adherence to biblical teachings.
“In accordance with our mission’s commitment to upholding the teachings of the Bible, we must address these allegations with the utmost seriousness they deserve,” Akande wrote.
The letter cited Leviticus 18:22 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 as doctrinal grounds for the church’s stance, which strictly prohibits acts of homosexuality. “The doctrine of the Redeemed Christian Church of God does not allow or tolerate any act of homosexuality,” the letter reads.
Pending the investigation, both AdeBello and Mayowa, along with any other accused individuals, are temporarily relieved of all their responsibilities within RCCG’s organizational structure. The church has mandated the investigation to be concluded within two weeks, underscoring the need for discretion and respect throughout the process.
The directive further urged those leading the inquiry to proceed with “care and integrity, and in accordance with our values as a church,” stressing confidentiality for all parties involved.
