Barcelona legend, Rivaldo, has revealed that captain, Lionel Messi, will join Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expires this summer.
Rivaldo believes Barcelona’s 4-1 defeat against PSG would be Messi’s last Champions League game for the La Liga giants at Camp Nou.
Recall that PSG thrashed Barcelona in Spain in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Tuesday night, thanks to a hat-trick from Kylian Mbappe.
“This heavy defeat against PSG will almost certainly be Messi’s last Champions League game with Barcelona at the Camp Nou,” Rivaldo told Betfair.
“[Barcelona cannot give Messi] the real possibility of fighting for big trophies.
“His future will be PSG, even more so given his display at the Camp Nou. They are a team that can give him the option of continuing to win trophies.”
He added, “Messi is well into his 30s, [and he] is still taking responsibility for the team.
“And to make matters worse, this season, he has seen his best teammate, Luis Suarez, leave in an incomprehensible sale that has served to make Atletico Madrid stronger than ever. Suarez is now the current Pichichi…”
Rivaldo also explained that Barcelona have no chance of coming back against PSG in the second leg in Paris next month.
“There is not a single player in the squad who believes in the comeback. It’s impossible to turn it around,” the Brazilian said.
