The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that 11 person lost their lives while 10 others were injured in a road crash in Niger.
The accident occurred on Monday at Kudu village, Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger.
Mr Kuwar Tsukwam, state Sector Commander of the corps, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Tuesday.
He said that the accident occurred at about 0317 hours on Monday.
Tsukwam said the accident involved a Toyota commercial bus with registration number FST 325 YE coming from Lagos to Kaduna State.
The second vehicle involved was conveying cows with registration number EKY 869 XE heading to Lagos State.
He said that vehicles had a head on collision, adding that the driver of the trailer was yet to be found.
” Twenty two persons were involved in the accident, eleven of them died, ten others sustained various injuries and one unhurt.
” The crash victims were taken to General Hospital Mokwa for treatment while the eleven corpses were deposited at Federal Medical Centre Mortuary Bida.
” We also recovered the sum of N35,160,bags of filter pumps,3 wrist watch one gallon of vegetables oil,9 different phones and several cows”, he said.
Tsukwam blamed the crash on speeding and advised motorists to always observe speed limits to avoid crashes.
