The Kano state Task Force Committee on sanitation has condemned the unsanitary condition of the Tarauni market abattoir, in Tarauni local government area of the state.
The Chairman of the committee, Dr Kabiru Getso stated this to newsmen after monitoring the monthly environmental sanitation.
Dr Getso, who is also the state Commissioner for the environment, maintained that it was worrisome to find the facility in such condition, despite several inspections.

“It is sad to witness these conditions and this shows that we must review the activities of our sanitary inspectors responsible for the area.
“We have also issued the management of the abattoir with a two-week ultimatum to sanitize the area and we will keep track.
“We are providing support to them to clean up the place and get it ready for cleaner operation,” Getso said.
Also, the Chairman of the committee commended the State Emergency Response Agency for the sanitary condition of its premises, describing it as the cleanest agency amongst all the agencies that the committee visited.
He urged the staff of the Agency to maintain the habit and put more effort in consistently sanitising the area.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Kano state Task Force Committee on sanitation conducted monthly inspections of workplaces, markets and motor parks on Fridays.
