Under the scholarship program, each student receives an annual scholarship of at least N450,000, along with a monthly allowance of N10,000. During the launch of the scheme, Senator Sumaila had promised to regularly supervise the beneficiaries’ performance to ensure the program’s success.

At the interactive meeting, Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila praised the students for their dedication to their studies. “I am meeting you today for the first time since the commencement of your studies under my sponsorship,” he said. “You will recall that during the launching of the scheme, I promised effective supervision of your performance.”

He continued, “We are meeting today to share our views and analyze the scheme to identify its successes and challenges in order to make it a success. You were selected for the scholarship from the 171 wards within Kano South. I am, therefore, urging you to be good ambassadors of your localities and Kano South wherever you find yourselves in the future.”

At the end of the meeting, Senator Sumaila received several awards of honor from the management of some institutions in recognition of his support for students from less privileged families across his senatorial district.

The interaction provided an opportunity for the students to express their gratitude and for the senator to reiterate his commitment to their academic and professional success. The event highlighted the positive impact of the scholarship scheme on the educational aspirations of young people in Kano South.
