Spanish center back, Ramos made his long-awaited debut on Sunday against Saint-Étienne but ended the game with fatigue.
Sergio Ramos will sit out during Week 16 Ligue 1 clash with Nice. The Spanish defender who only recently returned to action after six months out of the game, made his long-awaited return on Sunday, playing the full 90 minutes of the game against Saint-Étienne – his debut for PSG.
But he ended the game extremely tired and coach Mauricio Pochettino has decided to rest him and reserve him for Saturday’s game against Lens.
The Argentine coach explained in his press conference that Ramos was very tired by the end of Sunday’s game and needs to be gradually introduced into the team: “Ramos was very happy [finally making his debut]. The last 15 minutes of the game were very tough for him.
He was feeling more tired than normal, he has spent a long time without playing. We’ll see tomorrow how he feels and whether he is able to play a part in the game,” the PSG coach said.
PSG are not concerned that Ramos might be at risk of suffering a relapse of his calf muscle injury. The reason why he is being rested is due to fatigue after returning to action after a six-month break without playing competitively.
Left-back Juan Bernat, who returned about a month ago after spending a year on the sidelines with a ligament tear injury, has also been left out of the list for the Nice game as not to overexert himself. (AF)
