A Former Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Ibrahim Shema, has described the local government elections held in the State on Monday as ”a sad testimony”.

Shema stated this while speaking to newsmen in Dutsi-ma on Monday on the side lines of the elections.

“I am really disappointed with the way they are conducting this local government elections.

“Since Masari assumed office for about seven years, he has never conducted local government elections in the state.

“He even dissolved the elected local government executives in the 34 local government areas

“The unconstitutional action by Governor Masari’s Administration was challenged in court. The matter even went up to Supreme Court and the governor lost.

“Now that he was directed the conduct of the elections for the local governments, he only nominated the people who would be chairmen and councillors,” Shema said.

Shema described the election as `a sham’ pointing out that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) would challenge the local government elections in court. (NAN)
