Mr. Yatai who is also the co-chair, Citizens of Open Government Partnership (OGP), Commitment for which is Inclusion, Strengthening Social Protection, explained that the idea for the meeting is to be able to get feedbacks from what the government has planned to do, and how much it has Implemented.
“We want to know how much of those amounts have been released, how much has been cash-backed, how much has been utilized,
” We are also looking at how we can support the process to ensure that all planned government activities around social protection are implemented.”
“The idea is that the poor and vulnerable persons get out of that life, because social protection is to give that backing to relieve them from economic and others vices,” he said.
In her remarks, the Advocacy Communications Co-ordinator, (SCI), Kaduna Office, Murjanatu Kabir said Budget tracking and Cash backing has to do with the citizens, and in making sure that no one is left out.
“So basically, why we do this meeting is just to bring all the Ministry Departments Agencies (MDAs) that support Social Protection together with KADSPAC as CSO for them to present their budgets and where they are having challenges.
“This will give the CSOs an avenue to know where to advocate, It is a Kind of Blueprint to the CSOs to know what is happening, This is like left to them to know what to do.”
“We engage directly with the CSOs, us much like the link between the govt and CSOs. we rely more on the CSOs, since we are doing system strengthening, we have the system on ground, we have the budget of the allocations, but what about the releases”, she noted.
