Sokoto state government has revoked Dange General Hospital contract in Dange-Shuni local government area allegedly abandoned by the contractor after three consecutive variations of cost and fully paid.

The state Commissioner of Rural Development, Alhaji Isah Bajini- Galadanchi, made this known at the end of state executive council meeting on Tuesday in Sokoto.

Bajini-Galadanci said the contract was awarded in 2019, noting that the decision was reach in recognition of the premium placed on the project.

He said the project was conceived because of its significance to the people of the area, emphasizing that it would soon be re-awarded to another contractor.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that succur has also came to the people affected by floods in last two years as the state government awarded roads construction contracts.

Bajini-Galadanci said the awarded roads projects included; 66.8 kilometres Kagara-Goronyo and 32 kilometers Kebbe-Tambuwal road.

According to him, the sum of N1.3 billion will be spent on the construction of Romon Sarki-Gawon Gulbi road with a bridge washed away by flood in Tambuwal local government area.

He said an additional N3.5 billion was also approved for the reconstruction of Binji-Silame-Gande road and Wurno- Huchi road that also comprised bridge washed away by flood.

The Commissioner added that N520 million would be spent on the augmentation of urban infrastructures’ projects while the sum of N467 million will be expended on the procurement of drilling materials.

He explained the council also approved the sum of N218 for the provision of streetlights at the sites of the ongoing two flyovers being constructed at Runjin Sambo and Rijiyar Dorowa in Sokoto metropolis.

Bajini-Galadanci said more streetlights proposed for the completed intra-city Waziri Abbas and Maituta roads at the cost of N222 million and N80 million respectively.

Bajini added that the council approved the sum of N262 million as variation for the hitherto awarded contract of N475 million for the 14 km Tsaki- Lambo- feeder road, which total cost now stands at over N738 million.

“There was also a variation of N63 million on the Kwanar Kimba-Zamau road which was initially awarded at the cost of over N262 million but will now gulp over N376 million.

“Council also approved the purchase of drilling materials to facilitate the operations of the state’s three functional rigs, used for drilling boreholes across the state, at the cost of over N467 million.

The commissioner added that an additional N325 million has been earmarked for the variation of two rural infrastructures’ contracts.

NAN reports that the meeting was presided by Gov. Aminu Tambuwal while Bajini-Galadanci assisted during the press briefing by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Muhammad Ali Inname, Lands and Housing, Aminu Bala Bodinga and Local Government, Abdullahi Maigwandu. (NAN)
