Nnmadi Kanu, the detained leader of the proscribed separatist group Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), has promised to work to put an end to the current outbreak of violence in the southeast once he is released.

Kanu, who was denied bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, spoke shortly after the hearing.

According to the Nation, the IPOB leaders stated, “Anyone committing a crime cannot go free. I swear it. Anyone committing a crime in the east cannot go free.

“They’re doing this because I’m in DSS custody. If I were outside, no one could try this. I suspect that some government officials are complicit. They make money from the insecurity.

“They know if Nnmadi Kanu is outside, the nonsense will stop in two minutes. Who is the bagger or idiot who will speak while I am speaking?

“That is, I will issue an order in the East; who is the idiot who will oppose it?” Nobody can. I’m Nnmadi Kanu. Rubbish!.

“Anyone who engages in any form of violence in the East in the name of IPOB is doomed, and they are well aware of this. Let me get out of this mess; in two minutes, there will be peace in the East,” he declared.
