A suspected thief of electrical appliances has been confirmed dead in an attempt to steal some appliances from an electricity transformer.
Confirming the incident to Daily Trust in Zaria, the village head of Wusasa, Engineer Isiyaku Yusuf, said the suspected thief met his untimely death while in the transformer at about 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
He said “the suspect was discovered dead in an electricity transformer that supplies the Kuregu Area of Wusasa, and up until now nobody could identify him or where he came from.”
“I received a report of the incident from some good samaritans about the death discovery, and I quickly informed the Police of Dan Magaji Division, who came and picked up the corpse.
“The corpse has since been deposited at the ABU teaching hospital by the Police.” He explained.
The Village head, who lamented the incident, noted that even last week there was a reported incident of theft in one of the transformers in the area, stressing that the act had persisted in recent times.
Some residents interviewed attributed the death to the sudden restoration of power by the electricity providers, which caught the suspected thief unaware.
They suspected, however, that the deceased was not alone during the incident, but that he had accomplished a device to disappear after realizing his death.
