President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to implementing ongoing tax reforms, despite opposition from certain quarters.

Speaking during a presidential media chat aired on NTA on Monday night, Tinubu emphasized that the reforms aim to expand the tax net and ensure fairness in the system.
“The tax reform is here to stay. The reform is pro-poor and it is to widen the tax net, so we can have more people paying,” he stated.
The tax reform bills currently under consideration by the National Assembly have sparked controversies and resistance, particularly from Northern leaders. This has prompted lawmakers to initiate broader consultations.
However, Tinubu stressed that leadership requires decisive action. “The hallmark of a good leader is the ability to do what you have to do at the time it ought to be done,” he added.
