The All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign office in Gusau, the state capital, has been demolished by the Zamfara State Government.
According to Naija News, the demolition was carried out by the Zamfara Anti-thuggery Committee, which was formed by the state governor, Bello Matawalle.
Bello Bakyasuwa, Chairman of the Committee, told reporters on Sunday that the campaign office was demolished after intelligence reports that it was being used as a hideout.
Bakyasuwa claimed that the campaign office’s occupants were selling stolen vehicle parts, motorcycles, and drugs.
He went on to say that the committee, which was formed to combat thuggery and other forms of violence in the state, recovered some women’s clothing during a raid on the office.
“According to the available intelligence report to my committee on the party campaign office that we demolished today, the occupants are selling spare parts of stolen vehicles, motorcycles, and drugs,” he said.
During a raid on the said office, we even recovered some women’s clothing.”
Bakyasuwa also stated that the committee is working around the clock to combat political thuggery and ensure that all political parties in the state have a smooth electioneering campaign.
“As the election approaches, my committee is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring a peaceful campaign and election in the state,” he added.
“I am urging political parties and politicians to work with the anti-thuggery committee to ensure peaceful electioneering campaigns and elections in the state.”
