President Bola Tinubu departed Nigeria for Nairobi, Kenya, on Saturday to participate in the 5th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the African Union. Accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and Special Adviser Dele Alake, President Tinubu represents Nigeria as well as the new Chairman of ECOWAS at the meeting.
As the Nigerian leader and ECOWAS Chairman, President Tinubu will present a report on the progress of regional integration within ECOWAS.
The meeting, themed “Acceleration of African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Implementation,” brings together the Bureau of the AU Assembly.
This includes Heads of State and Government from Comoros, Botswana, Burundi, and Senegal, as well as leaders from the eight Regional Economic Communities.
The gathering provides a platform for African leaders to discuss and coordinate efforts towards the successful implementation of the AfCFTA, which aims to boost intra-African trade and economic cooperation.
