The incident, which occurred on the floor of the House of Representatives, stirred immediate reactions as senators and members of the House attempted to correct the President’s error.
Tinubu, in his address, stated: “I hereby present the 2025 budget to the joint session of the 11th National Assembly.” However, the lawmakers quickly shouted “10th” to correct him.
Responding with humor, Tinubu said: “10th? I wrote 11th, which means you are all reelected.”
The remark drew cheers and a standing ovation from the federal lawmakers, who applauded the President’s lighthearted response.
The 11th session of the National Assembly will officially be inaugurated in June 2027 after the current 10th Assembly concludes its term.
