The presentation of the N47.9 trillion 2025 budget to a joint session of the National Assembly, originally scheduled for Tuesday, December 17, has been postponed to Wednesday, December 18.
A top source within the National Assembly confirmed the shift to our correspondent in the Senate. An official statement regarding the postponement is expected to be released shortly.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio had announced the original date during Thursday’s plenary, stating, “The president has made his intention known to the National Assembly to present the 2025 budget to the joint Assembly of the National Assembly on the 17th of December, 2024.” He added that the presentation would take place in the House of Representatives Chamber.
Plenary was scheduled for 10:30 am to allow senators to convene in the Red Chamber before processing to the House of Representatives for the budget presentation.
In preparation, President Tinubu had already submitted the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper for 2025–2027 to both the Senate and the House of Representatives last Tuesday.
