We had instruction not to give election result copies to party agents – INEC staff testifies

A staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), Abedemi Joseph on Friday told the Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC, that they were instructed by their employer not to give copies of election results to political party agents who declined to sign the results.

The witness made the revelation while testifying in a petition filed by a former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Atiku Abubakar against the election of President Bola Tinubu.

Led in evidence-in-chief by the petitioner’s lead counsel, Chris Uche, SAN, Joseph prayed the court to adopt her witness statement on oath as her evidence in the petition against the victory of Tinubu.

10th NASS: Don’t elect another Muslim as Senate President – Group cautions

Ahead of the June 13 inauguration of the 10th National Assembly, a group under the aegis of The Natives has kicked against the election of another Muslim as the next Senate President.

The Leader of the group, Smart Edwards, while addressing a press conference on Thursday in Abuja called on Senators-elect across party lines to key into the wisdom of President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to promote peace, ensure inclusion and national unity that would endear the parliament to the Nigerian people.

He urged Senators-elect to dissociate themselves from any political, financial and insensitive approach or act that would promote a Muslim for the office of the Senate President.
