The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya Umar-Farouq, has condoled with the families and victims of Abuja-Kaduna bound train, describing the incident as horrific.

This is contained in a statement by Nneka Anibeze, Special Assistant to the minister on Media, and made available to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN ) reports that Abuja-Kaduna bound train was attacked on Monday night by gunmen at Dutse Forest, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

“My heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the attack. May God console and strengthen them at this time of grief.

“I also pray for speedy recovery of the injured and hospitalised persons who sustained various degrees of injuries,” she said.

According to the statement,  earlier, the North West Zonal Coordinator, NEMA, Abbani Garki, visited 11 victims of the attack receiving treatments at  St. Gerald’s Hospital in Kaduna.

It also indicated that eight victims were referred to 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital (NARHK), Kaduna with two of them sustaining gunshot injuries.(NAN)
