Training of human resource for efficiency, productivity, main focus of Kano Assembly – Speaker

In its efforts to impact the lives of the people of the State positively, the state House of Assembly had reiterated its stand to prioritise the training of human resources for effective service delivery to the Honourable Members of the House, especially in this era of House Autonomy.

The Speaker of the State House of Assembly Rt Hon Engineer Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari stated this while declaring close a three-day technical session organised by PERL to Honorable Members of the House of Assembly; during the Closing presentation series of papers were presented before the round-up.

Rt Hon Engineer Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari said the workshop of this magnitude would go a long way in impacting the day to day Legislative activities, proceedings and Administration in the State House of Assembly positively.

He further stated that “I believed this has awakened and widened our knowledge and understanding on the best Legislative practices on Administration and financial autonomy and also recognise the importance of Independence of the legislature as an arm of government.”

During the round-up session series of papers were presented, which includes among others; Strengthening the oversight functions in the State House of Assembly by Ambassador Jerry Ugokwe, An overview of the Health Sector in the State by Dr Dayyabu Mahmoud Yusuf, Team leader LAFIYA, Kano, as well as an overview of the education in Kano State.

At the end of each segment of the Presentation, micro reports were presented to drill the participants on their understanding of the subject matter at stake.

Similarly, during the round-up, Action plans and steps forward were taken as a guide to help members discharge their mandate.

Closing the Ceremony, the Speaker Rt Hon Engineer Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari pledged the support of the House of Assembly to the organisers that are PERL and extended gratitude to the Hon members for their patience throughout the sessions which he described as highly commendable and worthy of emulation.

He also thanked the State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, for his untiring support to the House.

Speaker Chidari then assured the good people of the State that the Honourable Members of the House would use what they learnt and put it into practice for the State’s overall development.

Also commenting on the workshop, the Clerk and Head of Legislative Service Alhaji Garba Bako Gezawa said the workshop come at the right time when the House is heading to the autonomous ground and promise to ensure prudence, accountability and dedication to duties for the betterment of the people of Kano State.

He also commended Speaker Chidari for his open-door policy and transparency in administering the House, which he said is the gateway of ensuring conducive and harmonious working relations among both Honourable Members and Management staff of the House.
