The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has deported 400 Nigerians, according to a report by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). The deportees consist of 90 females and 310 males.

The deported individuals were received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja by several federal agencies, including the Office of the National Security Adviser, the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and other relevant stakeholders.

This deportation follows a recent report in which 103 Nigerians were expelled from the Republic of Turkey. Those individuals were also received by NEMA and other federal agencies upon their return to Nigeria.

The 400 deportees from the UAE arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Friday at 7:00 p.m., via the pilgrimsโ€™ wing of the airport. Federal government officials, led by NEMA personnel, were on hand to facilitate their arrival and ensure their welfare.

In a related event on November 13, 2023, 264 Nigerians had their visas canceled upon arrival at the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The Federal Government has urged calm in response to the recent wave of deportations.
