An explosion has rocked the Sabon Gari area of Kano state this morning.

Daily News 24 reports that the explosion took place close to a primary school along Aba road by Court road in Sabon Gari area of the state with security operatives, including the army, police, and NSCDC surrounding the scene of the explosion.

The Kano state police command confirmed that four victims 3 Males and 1 Female including a Wielder, named Mr. Ejike Vincent were evacuated from the scene and rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano, where a medical doctor certified them dead.

According to SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the police public relations officer of the command, preliminary forensic analysis revealed that a suspected gas cylinder exploded with the recovery of chemicals, as a rescue mission is underway.

Muhammad Garba, the Commissioner for Information in the state, in a statement said stated that the cause of the explosion and the magnitude of damage had not been ascertained.

He said an investigation has commenced to determine the cause, impact, and measures to be taken.

He called on people in the state, particularly those living in the area where the incident occurred to remain calm while the government works with relevant agencies on the incident.
